September at Cozy Coven Crafts

September has been a pretty exciting month around the Coven. Most importantly, Cozy Coven Crafts attended our very first craft fair!

We packed up our embroidery kits, patterns, handmade creations, and entirely too many supplies and headed to Chalk It Up in Broken Arrow. Between meeting other makers, talking with visitors, surviving a little Oklahoma weather, and watching people actually pick up and enjoy things we'd spent so much time creating, we learned an incredible amount.

And somehow, we even exceeded the little goal we'd set for ourselves going into the weekend.

What We Learned

One of the biggest reasons we wanted to attend an in-person event was simple: we wanted to see what people were actually interested in.

Some of our creations definitely found their fans—and some have yet to find their people! But that's ok. This was all valuable data we collected.

Those little bits of information matter to us. Cozy Coven Crafts is still growing, and we want that growth to be shaped not only by the things we love creating, but by the things you actually enjoy making and bringing home.

Tested by the Coven

Something else that's incredibly important to us is testing what we create.

We don't want to sell a craft kit simply because everything theoretically should work.

Before one of our kits reaches you, we want to know that the materials work together, the instructions make sense, and an actual human being can use what we've provided to create the project we promised.

That means our products get made, tested, adjusted, and tested again when necessary. As we eventually branch into other types of crafts, that philosophy isn't changing. If we're creating something outside one of our own areas of expertise, we'll bring in someone who knows that craft to help us test it properly.

If we haven't tested it, we're not selling it.

Creativity should feel approachable. A kit that hasn't been properly tested is a pretty lousy way to accomplish that.

If you're reading this, it means we successfully convinced a collection of pretty pictures, mysterious settings, and occasionally uncooperative rectangles to become an actual Cozy Coven Crafts online home.

We're building this space so the people who meet us at events can find us again, and so people who aren't able to visit us in person can still see what the Coven is making.

Like everything else around here, it'll continue growing with us.

What's Brewing Next?

We have lots of ideas.

New products are being developed. New crafts and mediums are being explored. More events will eventually make their way onto our calendar. And there are already quite a few ideas happily growing in the Coven's Idea Garden.

We're deliberately not promising exactly what will sprout next.

Whatever it is, though, we'll make it, test it, learn from it, and make sure we're proud of it before we hand it over to you.
